Hootenanny

Happy New Year...... yes new year come early for me, I went to the BBC's Jools Holland's Hootenanny last night, what a great show Sir Paul McCartney & Kylie Minogue, Eddie Floyd, Kaiser Chiefs, Mika, Madness, Kate Nash, Lulu, Ruby Turner, Duffy, Seasick Steve and an audiance of celebrity's including Lenny Henry, Dawn French, Rory Bremner, Kenny Logan, The Kumars, Bernie Ecclestone to Sir Peter Blake and many more.

The night Started with the arrival of DR Who's Tardis and the DR Who team....

Jool's Hollands Rhythm & Blues Orchestra with the legendary Rico Rodriguez & Courtney Pine played with Paul McCartney & Kylie
Minogue but the act of the night for me was Eddie Floyd 60's soul man, writer of “knock on wood” and a mean blues guitar from Seasick Steve.

Funniest thing of the night was watching little Sir Bernie Ecclestone, plus wife and 2 daughters, 3rd riches man in Briton looking pissed off sitting behind the ever Scottish Jackie Stewart.

I got abit of a giggle from Dawn French in the car park as she climbed over a taped off area, I shouted “you can't do that” whilst recreating her leap over the tape.

Reflection

Antony Gormley's work has been seen all over london of late with 31 statues displayed on buildings around London
this is permanent and is just around the corner to me on Euston road and is called Reflection

"Reflection comprises a familiar rust-coloured Gormley figure looking at both its reflection in a window and a twin sculpture on the other side of the pane at the entrance of the offices at 350 Euston Road, London, the augmented reflection shimmering almost like a holographic image."

i do like it.................

Pure genius

This is absolutely brilliant! O2 have set up a group on Facebook called ‘The Battle for the UK’s Favourite University’. This ties in perfectly with their ‘Favourite Place’ campaign and instead of going on about how great O2 is, it is encouraging people to get together and chat about how fantastic their university is, why it’s more fun than others, what’s cool etc. The more Facebook activity a uni has, the more points it earns. The uni with the most points at the end of it will win a £50k party. Currently there are 75,814 members, with 1,203 discussion topics and 2,651 wall posts. You need to have a facebook profile to look at it but if you have one, check it out here. So simple, yet so clever. Come on Exeter!!

The cars the star

Well what can I say it went to the docs and the diagnosis was bad. My Mercedes Benz 230 CE coupe is sick again this time I've broke one of the spingy bits and the other bits around the springy bits need replacing along with the other springy bit.
More money to spend on my lovely old classic this time I was very close to sending it to the knackers yard but once again it's got the better of me the sad look on it's face saying to me " But I'm a classic you can't scrap me"

Watch the Birdie

Up on the 7th floor out on a ledge, Blackie comes calling/singing. He's a frequent visitor outside the window singing his heart out entertaining the troops.
